Prior to the construction of the Ryde Bridge in the 1930s, Ryde Wharf, located to the east of Meadowbank wharf at the current Ryde Bridge site, was the passenger wharf servicing the area.
Silt in the river and sludge from factory and industrial waste upstream led to the suspension of ferries between Parramatta and Sydney. Meadowbank wharf was the westernmost point for Sydney Ferries operating on Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River until the restoration of the service to Parramatta in 1993 with the introduction of the Rivercat service.
Wharf 1
Parramatta Ferries bypass this wharf but do not stop.
The wharf has an adjoining bus terminus, which is served on weekdays by route 513 to Carlingford Court Shopping Centre.
Interchange is also available by a 700 metre walk to Meadowbank railway station where passengers may transfer to the Northern Line.
